'Mad Men' Prompts a New Parody Account on Twitter

The new season of Mad Men is off to a strong start on social media -- it's already the most talked-about premiere of 2012. Twitter users were abuzz with chatter about Sunday night's episode of Mad Men -- especially about the comeback of Don Draper's ex-wife, Betty Draper Francis.

(SPOILER ALERT: We'll reveal some of the key plot points of the episode in the next paragraph.)

Betty's sudden weight gain was a major subplot of the episode. The actress playing her, January Jones, was pregnant during the shooting of the show. Now the unhappy spouse of a prominent political aide, she was seen chowing down on Bugles and ice cream, and asking her doctor for diet pills. That same doctor's visit led to a brief thyroid cancer scare, after which Betty returned to her overeating ways.

The character was quickly turned into the newest parody account in the Mad Men Twitter family:@FatBettyFrancis. Meanwhile, #FBF (for "Fat Betty Francis") seems to be trending on the microblogging service.
