A man is pranking Ireland's postal service with crazy complicated packages

LONDON -- Some say in Ireland you can write just a name and a town on a letter and it will get to its destination.

One man has been testing the country's postal service to its limits by throwing a series of increasingly random dispatches in his local letterbox, and most of them have been making it through.

A miniature globe, a toilet roll and a sheet of clear plastic are among the odd objects David Curran has been sending via An Post and documenting on his Tumblr. Only a couple have been returned to sender or lost on the way.

Curran, who says he was inspired by a similar project in the U.S., told Mashable he's "very impressed" by An Post's dedication to making sure his pointless items reach their target.

"I'm amazed at what An Post can deliver," he said. "Communities take part as well. The local publican or shopkeeper will keep an letter until they ask enough people to work out who the intended recipient was."

"My father-in-law once helped give a letter to 'The man who herds the cows through the village in south Kilkenny, Ireland.'"

Here are some of Curran's more challenging items.

That last letter was intended for a brewery, but was sent back to Curran's house - even though he didn't add a return address.

"I am only going to send letters to other people now, as An Post seem to now think anything weird should end up at my house," he said. "That said, my friends have started sending me weirdly addressed letters."
