You think you were affected by Making a Murderer? Talk to Dan Auerbach, the Black Keys guitarist who turned his Netflix binge into a new song.

"Lake Superior," written with Auerbach's new band The Arcs, is an objectively good song -- but you can't help feeling a little ... squeamy about the very real subject matter, as with Foster the People's "Pumped Up Kicks," which was about mental illness and gun violence.

"Lake Superior" laments for Avery's children and for a system in which "the poor get whipped and the fat get fatter and the rich get rich."

"Your alibi will never do / when the whole town's got it out for you" Auerbach sings in the first verse, succinctly summarizing the helplessness of Avery's situation as witnessed by everyone who's seen the Netflix docuseries. According to the song description, The Arcs spent "sleepless nights" between watching the series and writing "Lake Superior."

Proceeds from the single's iTunes sales will go to The Innocence Project, the organization that helped with Avery's 2003 exoneration and continues to overturn wrongful convictions within the criminal justice system.
