SINGAPORE -- Malaysian police authorities have arrested three people suspected of being connected to the deadly Bangkok shrine bombing last month that killed 20 people.

Malaysian police chief Khalid Abu Bakar told the press on Monday that two Malaysians and one Pakistani have been detained, after Thai authorities tipped them off.

One of the three suspects is a woman, although the police did not specify which. Khalid also said that they were arrested several days ago, but did not say when exactly.

The police don't think that the main suspect is amongst the three, however. "We are not sure whether the main suspect is in this country, we don't know, we don't have a real evidence to show that he's in this country so we are investigating it," said the chief.

The suspects will remain in Malaysia for now.

Thailand has made several arrests in the past month, as they track down the people behind the series of bombings. So far, they've nabbed a key suspect identified as Yusufu Mieraili, who has admitted to handing the bomber the bomb-containing backpack at the shrine.
