Welcome to New York, world's largest rubber duck. It's been waiting for you.

"Mama Duck" -- the monstrously cute 11-ton inflatable rubber duck that you've no doubt seen in selfies on Instagram and Twitter -- has docked in Oyster Bay, Long Island, just in time for the annual oyster festival taking place on October 17 and 18.

Florentijn Hofman is the Dutch artist behind Mama Duck. His giant floating toy has made appearances all over the world, from Hong Kong to Sydney. Even an unlicensed knock-off of Mama Duck appeared (and sadly deflated) at the Tall Ships Festival in Philadelphia in June.

Mashable headed down to the Long Island waterfront to see what the great big fuss is about.
