A man in China spent two years raising a pair of puppies — only to have the jarring realization that he was actually raising two bears.
Yunnan resident Wang Kayui bought two "puppies" from a mysterious Vietnamese strangers a few years ago. There was apparently nothing unusual about the pets when Kayui took them home, and the animals were very well-behaved.

However, as the "puppies" grew, it became clear that something was amiss — particularly when they killed and ate Kayui's pet chickens. (The fact that they look like bears was NOT a tip-off).

It was a pamphlet about endangered species that finally made the connection click for Kayui. After looking at the photos, he realized that his "dogs" were actually Asian black bears.

Kayui consequently handed his puppy-bears over to the Forest Public Security Bureau, and the bears were re-homed at the Yunnan Wild Animal Rescue Center.
Feng Lingui, a spokesperson for the center, told the Daily Mail that the two bears, a boy and a girl, were doing very well in their new home.
