Republican presidential hopeful Marco Rubio visited Iowa this week, where he held a family picnic to chat with locals about education reform in the key state.

But his trip will now be better remembered for the fact that he accidentally chucked a football at a kid's face.

At the picnic in the Des Moines suburb of Ankeny, Rubio seemed keen to impart some of his football knowledge. Then this happened.

.@marcorubio goes long in Iowa... and... d'oh. Don't worry, the kid's okay! http://t.co/Ly9sThFm0Thttps://t.co/6NtUT5Eqhk— Bloomberg Politics (@bpolitics) August 18, 2015

The football practice had started innocently enough, with Rubio coaching a group of kids in the park. He spent time shaking hands with potential voters and posing for pictures before tossing the football to a group of children who lined up to play.

But the one kid flubbed the pass from Rubio, and the ball knocked him in the face. Fumble.

As a kid growing up in Las Vegas, Rubio played quarterback on local recreation teams.
