Scott Stuber (Ted), Dylan Clark (Planet of the Apes), Stephen Levinson (The Gambler), and 60 Minutes producer Michael Radutzky are also set to produce the film.

Wahlberg, a native of the city, is expected to star as Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis, a source close to production tells Mashable.

The movie will be based on Davis' first-hand account of the April 15 event, in which three people were killed and more than 250 injured.

Davis' story was first told in a report on CBS's 60 Minutes (which you can watch above).

Davis was tasked with bringing together law enforcement agencies from every level to coordinate a search for the suspected bombers, later identified as brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is currently on trial for the bombings. His brother Tamerlan was killed during the five-day manhunt.
