Mark Zuckerberg's Net Worth Doubled in the Last Year

Mark Zuckerberg is back in the top 20 on Forbes' list of the 400 richest Americans.

The Facebook co-founder and CEO saw his net worth double from $9.4 billion (at the time the 2012 Forbes list was assembled) to $19 billion on this year's richest list, which was released Monday. He moved back to the No. 20 spot -- where he ranked in 2011, prior to Facebook IPO -- from the No. 36 spot in 2012.

Zuckerberg saw the second largest year-over-year increase in net worth of any person on the Forbes list, after he suffered the single biggest drop in net worth in 2012. The big shifts in Zuckerberg's wealth are directly tied to Facebook's stock, which hit an all-time low of $17.55 in early September last year, but has since recovered and hit a new all-time high of more than $45 last week.

Some estimates put Zuckerberg's net worth even higher than the $19 billion cited by Forbes: The Bloomberg Billionaires Index says he is currently worth $21.7 billion.

Zuckerberg wasn't the only tech exec to rank high on this year's Forbes list. The top 50 featured several founders from Microsoft, Amazon, Google and other prominent tech companies.

Below is the list of the 10 richest people in technology, per Forbes, along with overall rank on the list and net worth:

Bill Gates: No. 1, $72 billion

Larry Ellison: No. 3, $41 billion

Jeff Bezos: No. 12 , $27.1 billion

Larry Page: No. 13, $24.9 billion

Sergey Brin: No. 14, $24.4 billion

Mark Zuckerberg: No. 20, $19 billion

Steve Ballmer: No. 21, $18 billion

Michael Dell: No. 25, $15.9 billion

Paul Allen: No. 26, $15.8 billion

Charles Ergen: No. 32, $12.5 billion
