Move over, Katy Perry, it's time for ... Maroon 5?

The pop band, fronted by the definitely married Adam Levine, is in talks to perform at Super Bowl 50's halftime show, according to E! The band has apparently had "extensive talks" about a halftime show performance, and is the current frontrunner.

Representatives for Maroon 5 have not yet responded to Mashable's request for comment.

Other rumored halftime performers include previous halftime emcee Bruno Mars, who anchored the show in 2014. But Mars was rumored to be one of several prospective performers; sources told Mashable that he would be charge of picking other artists to perform at the sporting event's landmark 50th anniversary.

Maroon 5 has kept busy lately, releasing its first greatest hits album, Singles, on Sept. 25. Lead singer Adam Levine is also a longtime coach on NBC's reality singing competition The Voice, currently working alongside Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani and Pharrell.

Super Bowl L will take place on February 7, 2016. Last year, halftime host Katy Perry was announced on Nov. 23 -- so it might be some time before we know who our halftime overlords will be.
