LONDON -- She's the queen of cakes, the duchess of Danishes and the baroness of bread, though Paul Hollywood may dispute that last one. Mary "baking badass" Berry knows her stuff when it comes to putting buns - not that kind of buns - in the oven, and she's certainly no stranger to letting her thoughts be known.
The first episode of The Great British Bake Off Season 6 aired on BBC One in the UK last night and it certainly got off to a raucous start. From collapsed cakes to chocolate elephants grazing in the Black Forest, Mary had ample fuel to get the fire in her cake-eating belly going.
The madeira cake challenge in particular led to many classic Mary reactions.
"I'm sorry, you're doing what to your madeira cake?"
"If I were you I would try something different, but you know best."
"Gin, in a cake, you say? Tally ho!"
"Not enough gin."
"And now we get to eat the cake."
"Oo, you saucy minx."
"By jove, I think you've got it."
