E-mail Organizer Xobni Goes To Invite-only Beta

"Xobni" is "Inbox" backwards, and although the result isn't too bad in this particular case, I hope this naming scheme doesn't turn into a trend. As far as the service itself goes, it's a desktop application/plugin that helps you organize your e-mail better. It currently works only with Microsoft Outlook, and support for other e-mail clients is "coming soon," which isn't particularly reassuring.

Here is a list of Xobni's main features:

- Lightning fast search - the email or person you're looking for appears as you type.

- Navigate your inbox by people - discover email's social network

- Threaded conversations - email how it was meant to be read, with conversations in context

- Quick attachment discovery - historical attachments available instantly without searching

- Phone numbers extracted from emails - contact details pop into the sidebar - never search for phone numbers again

- Email Analytics - rankings, graphs, and statistics detailing how you and your contacts use email

- Integrated web search – search the web from within Microsoft Outlook

Threaded conversations is an interesting one; it is one of the reasons why I personally wouldn't touch any desktop e-mail client other than The Bat!; email analytics sounds like fun, but I doubt anyone will use it except stat junkies. Finally, the "social" features sound a lot like the new features of Yahoo Mail, which should turn your e-mail into a social networking hub; it will be interesting to see how these two compare once Yahoo implements the announced changes.
