When New York Police Department officer Larry DePrimo was cold wearing two pairs of wool socks and combat boots, he couldn't imagine how freezing a barefoot man asking for change in Times Square felt. Deprimo purchased thermal socks and insulated winter boots to give to the man, and a chance photo of the officer's act of kindness has since gone viral.

The generous gesture was captured by an Arizona tourist and then sent to the NYPD which shared the snapshot on their official Facebook page.

Since posting on Tuesday, the photo has received more than 75,000 shares and 321,000 likes.
