McConaughey last hosted the show in 2003, when his career looked... well, slightly different. The actor has since received endless critical acclaim for work like his starring role on True Detective and his Academy Award-winning performance in Dallas Buyers Club. He is currently working on several projects and promoting Gus Van Sant's The Sea of Trees.
Very happy to announce that @McConaughey will host #SNL November 21 with musical guest @Adele! pic.twitter.com/2wAjifHjKa— Saturday Night Live (@nbcsnl) October 26, 2015
Adele will be returning to the program after seven years, having performed "Chasing Pavements" from her album 19 in 2008. Her latest album, 25, will release the day before her SNL appearance.
Will McConaughey's SNL gig spoof earlier works like How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days or Fool's Gold (please, please)? How about a True Detective sketch to remind us of the show's glory days? Who knows -- maybe he'll even respond Jim Carrey's superb parody of McConaughey's Lincoln ads, which aired on... SNL.
