It didn't take long for the Internet to latch on to one of the most memorable images to come out of the London Olympics: the scowling face of U.S. gymnast McKayla Maroney after a fall caused her to get the silver, rather than the gold in the Vaulting competition.
Maroney's face has already been appropriated for memes like the one above that translate her naked emotion into punchlines. Another variation is to juxtapose the gymnast into different settings, such as the Mars landing or at a showing of Magic Mike. More are cataloged on the red-hot Tumblr McKayla Is Not Impressed.
Overall, the web seems to have had a field day with Maroney -- whom many have cast as a stereotypical mean girl based on her facial expressions, even if the image doesn't necessarily jibe with reality.
Despite her obvious annoyance during the medals ceremony, Maroney has tweeted that she's not brooding about it.
