Photographer Freddy Fabris has created a series inserting mechanics into the hallowed halls (er, hallowed workrooms) of Renaissance paintings. The striking series combines the go-to guy from your auto body shop with the setting of a Rembrandt classic.

With sumptuous coloring and and abundance of coveralls, Fabris shines a new light on classic Renaissance masterpieces, like Michelangelo's The Creation of Adam and Rembrandt's The Anatomy Lesson.

Fabris, whose work includes advertisements for Unilever, takes a stab at something unusual with his Renaissance series.

"Because of my painting background, I always wanted to homage the great Renaissance masters with a series of photos," Fabris tells the blog foundfolios. "[...] One afternoon, I came across this Midwest car shop where a friend of mine was getting his car repaired. The moment I walked in there, it clicked. [...] This place had so much stuff around, and everything had this patina of grease, dirt, life."
