MeeVee, the Internet TV startup based in Burlingame, is launching a new set of features today. The first is a "My Interests" module that appears down the left hand side of the page - this gives you quick access to your favorites, and MeeVee can also use it to find shows that will interest you. Other new stuff includes the ability to add an item to your favorites with one click, and the ability to subscribe to RSS feeds for MyYahoo, Google, Netvibes and more.
In fact, MeeVee is an interesting play - they try to make TV listings easier to manage by providing an ajaxed-up interface, favorites, recommendations and more. They also have deals with the content companies that allow users to watch previews of shows. What's more, there's a downloadable player for Windows called MeeVcast, allowing you to watch behind the scenes clips of your favorite shows. Another neat feature: you can watch Internet TV channels and leave ratings and reviews. There are similarities to the TV listings service Tioti, but MeeVee isn't so concerned with torrents or downloads.
For those who are keeping track, MeeVee announced $8 million in third round funding last month, which brings them to a total of at least $20 million. It's certainly an interesting idea, but it still lacks social features: the benefit of putting TV listings on the web is that you can find out what your friends are watching, talk about shows while they're airing and tap into the interests of the community. Perhaps I'm missing them, but I don't see many of these features on MeeVee.
