Meredith Vieira confirmed weeks of rumors by announcing that she'll be leaving NBC's Today, to be replaced by the show's longtime news anchor Ann Curry.
In the video above, which aired Monday morning, an emotional Vieira says she will be leaving the show in June. “Time is one of those weird things,” she says. “You can never get enough of it and it just keeps ticking away.” Vieira goes on to say she wants to spend more of her time with her family.
Vieira joined the show, which produces about $500 million in ad revenues, five years ago. Natalie Morales, now the co-host of the third hour of Today, will assume Curry’s news anchor role. NBC White House correspondent Savannah Guthrie will take over for Morales.
