Before Michael Jordan was a retired basketball god who double-fists cigars like a boss in his spare time, he was just another high school hoop-dreamer.

Now, thanks to quite a pull from the vault, we get a rare look at MJ back in the day.

Here's Jordan, as a Laney High hooper, catching an outlet pass to throw down a fast-break dunk:

Pretty crazy seeing the man who would go on to become the greatest player of all-time as a youngster dunking in a gym-slash-auditorium with a stage behind one baseline. The precise year this clip is from is not specificed, but Jordan graduated high school in 1981.

The clip was shared by MaxPreps, which posted it as part of a larger retrospective package. You can watch the whole thing here, but the dunk above is the definite highlight.

Jordan was considered a very good player at Laney -- which has become a big part of the legend of His Airness -- but no one foresaw his greatness to come. He went on to play collegiately for Dean Smith at North Carolina for three years before being drafted third overall by the Chicago Bulls in 1984. The rest, as they say, is history.

We'll never see another Michael Jordan -- despite what this uncanny mashup might lead you to believe.
