If you're a developer who wants to learn more about how to build for Microsoft Windows 10 and the company's ultra-futuristic HoloLens headset, get in line.

Microsoft's Build 2015 developer conference opened for registration at noon ET on Thursday -- and about 45 minutes later, it sold out.

The conference, which is for developers to learn about the "latest tools and technologies" from Microsoft, was announced just one day after the Windows 10 event and the unveiling of its high-tech HoloLens virtual reality headset. The HoloLens headset creates a "surreal" landscape of holograms and works with the company's new augmented reality system, Windows Holographic.

Needless to say, the event renewed excitement and is likely attributable to the developer conference tickets selling so quickly.

The conference will be held in San Francisco, Calif., from April 28 to May 1. Full-price tickets were $2,095, while a limited amount of "academic" tickets went for $995.

Last year, the Build conference did sell out, but it took about a day for all the tickets to be claimed. Other conferences, like Google I/O, for example, typically sell out in under an hour.

Developers at last year's conference learned more about building apps for Windows 8.1. This year's event will likely focus more on the new announcements, including HoloLens, Windows 10 and the Project Spartan browser.

If you're among those lamenting about not nabbing a spot, a chance still exists to get in. Microsoft has a waitlist.
