Microsoft Exec Fired for Company Violations

Stuart Scott, Microsoft's Corporate Vice President and Chief Information Officer, has been removed from the company for violating company policies, according to an official statement.

What Scott did in violation of company policies is not known, but one of the last projects Scott spoke on was his work for centralizing Microsoft's IT operations. Prior to joining Microsoft in 2005, Scott worked for 17 years at General Electric, in various positions, including the CIO of several departments. Until a replacement is found, Microsoft General Manager Shahla Aly and Corporate VP Alain Crozier will take on Scott's responsibilities in the interim.

So what could Scott have done that was bad enough to get him kicked out of Microsoft? Unlike most of the executive departures we've seen in recent months, Scott's situation seems unlikely related to a desire to leave aging companies for the shiny newness of another startup or smaller company working towards more innovative projects.
