It has been just under a month since Microsoft appointed Satya Nadella as its new CEO, but he appears to already be shaking things up.

Nadella has reportedly appointed former Hillary Clinton pollster Mark Penn to serve as Microsoft's chief strategy officer. Penn had previously been an executive VP in charge of advertising.

At the same time, two other execs at Microsoft are said to be leaving the company: Tony Bates, Microsoft's executive VP of business development and the former CEO of Skype, and Tami Reller, the company's executive VP of marketing.

The news was first reported by Kara Swisher at Re/code and later confirmed independently by Bloomberg and the New York Times.

A rep for Microsoft declined to comment on the reports.

Bates in particular was rumored to be one of the top internal candidates to replace Steve Ballmer as CEO, but he lost out to Nadella. Given that, his departure from the company isn't too surprising.

Microsoft stock was down by about 1% in pre-market trading following the news.

UPDATE 3:30 pm E.T. Monday: Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella confirmed the executive changes in an email to employees on Monday.
