What Would Microsoft Have Called the iPad?

Microsoft recently had to change the name of the user interface for Windows 8, which used to be called simply "Metro." Now it's the incredibly bland and near-meaningless "Windows 8-style UI." Oy.

It's not the first naming problem Microsoft has had surrounding Windows 8. When it came time to give out names to the different versions of the OS, the company opted for the almost comically uninteresting "Windows RT" for the tablet version.

Microsoft's lame-name problem got us wondering: What would it have named products if the Microsoft were Apple? Would it have brought its clinical style of naming to devices like the iPad? Sure, when it came time to name a tablet, we know Microsoft opted for "Surface," but back in 2010 it might not have so quickly co-opted the name of its interactive tabletop.
