Microsoft announced today its intention to acquire mobile services and solutions specialist MobiComp, a company headquartered in Braga, Portugal and with international bases in the UK, Malaysia, and Dubai. MobiComp provides the mobile backup and data sharing solution MobileKeeper as well as Active mTicker, a system which delivers automated notifications via information subscriptions. Uses for mTicker can range from basic news alerts to advertising. [img src="http://sale-online.click/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/mobicompscreen.png" caption="" credit="" alt=""]

Financial details have not been disclosed. The deal is officially still pending. But the addition of MobiComp to Microsoft’s mobile business is likely to bring the software giant ample value. MobiComp presently maintains a partner list of 11 mobile operators worldwide, presumably in and around the abovementioned markets, therefore Microsoft’s effort to grow its share in the smartphone sector globally will perhaps be benefited somewhat with MobiComp’s infusion. The company's MobileKeeper Sharing & Communities is particularly telling of what Microsoft might pursue much further development of for its mobile division.

As MobiComp describes it, MobileKeeper Sharing & Communities gives users the ability to "create, share and download content, while building their personal communities and networks or publish content direct to blogs and social networking sites such as Flickr and Hi5 on the move, with ease."
