Microsoft Acquiring Musiwave for Windows Mobile & Zune?

Microsoft has begun the process of acquiring mobile music and entertainment service, Musiwave SA, part of the Openwave umbrella. The deal will combine the partnerships with music labels, device makers and mobile operators with Microsoft's own Connected Entertainment technologies, like Windows Mobile, Zune, MSN and Windows Live.

No word on the price that Microsoft is willing to pay for Musiwave, but should the deal go through, then it will continue to operate from its headquarters in Paris. Musiwave is appealing to Microsoft in part because of its desire to work directly with the hardware and mobile operators in order to offer its service to the public. That's something that Microsoft has been involved in on th mobile front for some time, and could work nicely with Microsoft's own mobile operating system as a default aspect of its technology.
