To do its part, Microsoft has created a special edition pink wireless mouse. The company will donate 10% (or $4) of the selling price of the mouse to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
The mouse is a special edition of the Wireless Mobile Mouse 4000 and it retails for $39.95. Proceeds from September 1, 2010 to September 11, 2011 will go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Microsoft has guaranteed a minimum donation of $200,000.
As mice go, the Mobile Mouse 4000 is pretty slick. It isn't Bluetooth, but the 2.4 Ghz mouse does come with a nano tranceiver that can be stored inside the mouse, which makes it great for traveling. I'm a fan of Bluetooth accessories but the more traditional wireless mice have better range and tend to have less interference.
The mouse also has a 10-month battery life and can be used on pretty much any surface (save clear glass or mirrors). For Windows 7 users, the mouse also has a Windows Flip button that lets you switch between open windows Alt-Tab style.
Plus, it's pink! OK, so the pink part might not appeal to everyone -- but if you're looking for a new wireless mouse, you could do worse, plus, this way you also contribute to a great cause.
