Microsoft Launches Surface Tablet

At a super-secretive event Monday Microsoft has unveiled its own tablet computer called Surface.

While the device definitely shows promise -- it's a super-thin, 10.6-inch tablet with two USB ports and an innovative keyboard/cover combo -- the verdict is that it's too early to give a final verdict just yet.

We've had a chance to try it out, but we don't know the full list of specifications, and we weren't allowed to test certain aspects of the device, for example, the cover-keyboard was out of our grasp. We'll know more after a full-fledged review, but for now, we'll chalk Surface up as "promising."

Also, Microsoft's entire presentation of Surface is now available for your viewing pleasure.

Harry Potter Books Now Available in Amazon Kindle Owners' Lending Library

Kindle owners who are also subscribers to Amazon Prime can now read all of the Harry Potter books for free. The $79 Prime membership gives users the ability to choose from over 145,000 books to borrow for free as frequently as a book a month, with no due dates.

Thunderbolt Update Brings Ethernet Converter Support

Apple has updated its Thunderbolt software to version 1.2.1, bringing one very important feature -- support for a gigabit Ethernet adapter. This will be handy for everyone buying a new Retina MacBook Pro, which dropped the Ethernet port in favor of Thunderbolt.
