MUMBAI, India--Microsoft is finally launching its Surface tablets in India, CEO Satya Nadella announced at his keynote session at the company's Future Unleashed event in Mumbai.

Microsoft had skipped India for its Surface range of tablets earlier, with many believing that India wasn't the right market for a high-end, expensive tablet/laptop. But that's changing now.

Nadella also announced that the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL would launched in India next month. He demonstrated the new Windows 10 feature where he connected the smartphone to a keyboard and display, which transforms the smartphone experience into a laptop like interface.

Microsoft hasn't announced the pricing details for the Surface Pro 4 or the new Lumia smartphones.

"We are reinventing computing with devices like the HoloLens to Microsoft Band and everything in between," Nadella said during his keynote titled The Empowered Leader.
