The game, which is a piece of the larger Million Moms Challenge initiative launched earlier this week by ABC News and the UN Foundation, is called 1000 Days and guides players through a series of educational mini games that teach about things such as proper diet, breast feeding and government regulations. Throughout the game, users are presented with opportunities to connect with outside organizations in the maternal health space for additional information.

Chang described the game as an alternative to popular casual games such as FarmVille and a better way for people to spend their time.

The goal of the game and the larger initiative is to increase awareness about important global health issues affecting mothers and children. According to Chang, better nutrition in developing nations can boost economic productivity by 3%. Beyond the Facebook game, the Million Moms Challenge brings together hundreds of so-called "mommy bloggers" and connects them with NGOs working on improving maternal health to help spread awareness and raise money for the issue.
