Good news and bad news.

Bad news first: The Mindy Project is done at Fox. Sorry, tis the season.

The good news: That might not be the end of Mindy Lahiri's story.

Mashable can confirm that talks to bring the show to Hulu under a multi-season deal are currently underway.

Meaning, if the deal pans out -- fingers, toes crossed -- the news will not just be good, it will be very good.

Official channels -- i.e.: the network (Fox) and studio (Universal TV) -- are mum on all counts, but one report suggests the reported Hulu deal would be for two seasons.

Star Mindy Kaling, meanwhile, seems confident of their chances, posting this instagram just hours after the news broke on Wednesday.

Hey guys, I'm in Montana, is anything happening in LA? #themindyproject A video posted by Mindy Kaling (@mindykaling) on May 6, 2015 at 8:25pm PDT

That wink says it all -- we hope.

This, of course, would not be the first time a show from Universal has jumped from a network and lived on in a purely digital form.

Community was famously saved by Yahoo months after NBC failed to give it a Season 6 pickup, and The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, which debuted earlier this year on Netflix, had originally been developed for NBC, who passed on the project to Netflix pre-air after failing to find a suitable place for it on the network's schedule.

The Mindy Project wrapped up its third season in March with a romantic episode that left anyone with a heart wanting more. Assuming Hulu has one, fans might get their wish for more Mindy.
