You might not be able to own every colorful piece of clothing that Mindy Lahiri wears on The Mindy Project, but starting Tuesday you will be able to purchase some of her coats.
The series' Emmy-nominated costume designer, Salvador Perez, joined forces with Gilt to create six pieces of outerwear inspired by the funny girl's lively character.

“Coats were sort of what got the ball rolling on ‘Mindy Project’ because I couldn’t find what I wanted, which were more colorful and more streamlined and we started making them for our show,” Perez told Variety. “Fans’ reaction was always so positive and were something they were asking for. I wanted to have fun designing, but I also wanted to honor the fans who have been asking for them for four seasons.”
Since outerwear in classic neutrals is already readily available to shoppers, Perez focused his collection around bold colors and patterns.
“There was a conversation about doing a black or camel coat and the whole reason I make the coats for Mindy is that you can buy a black or camel coat,” he tells Variety, adding, “I wanted jewel tones that could be dressed up or dressed down."
Lahiri (played by Mindy Kaling) can be seen wearing the houndstooth and tweed coats throughout Season 4, which is available on Hulu now.
You can begin shopping Mindy's closet, with coats retailing for $450, tomorrow, Oct. 27, at noon ET on gilt.com.
