LONDON -- A British man may have broken a world record after playing Minecraft for a whopping total of 35 hours, 35 minutes and 35 seconds.

Joe Kelly took on the challenge -- which he started Saturday at 9 a.m. and finished on Sunday night -- in order to raise money for Cancer Research UK. So far he's raised around £1,800 on his JustGiving page.

Kelly vlogged about the planned attempt on his YouTube channel and then live streamed the whole thing from start to finish.

Here he is in the early stages.

And here he is around 30 hours later.

Kelly got through the marathon challenge with the help of friends (he's constantly surrounded by people in the videos) and -- impressively -- he did the whole thing without a single cup of coffee or can of Red Bull.

"Staying awake wasn't too bad," he told the BBC. "I did the whole thing without any caffeine."

"There were no stimulants other than sugar and stubbornness."

Kelly went on to explain that the parts of him that suffered the most were his fingers.

"They hurst so much just from holding keyboard and mouse and being in clenched position for such a long time," he said. "Every little break I got I was flexing my fingers."

The evidence of Kelly's attempt will now be submitted to the Guinness World Records. The current record, set in 2011 by Martin Fornleitner, stands at just over 24 hours.
