Can't get enough of BB-8, the new rolling ball-bot from Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens and potential candidate for droid that's cuter than R2-D2?

One diehard Star Wars fan decided to take his affection for the new 'bot to another level. Industrial designer Christian Poulsen challenged himself to build a miniature BB-8 that actually works — in one day.

Poulsen's BB-8 is made from a modified Sphero robot ball. After cutting the toy up, painting it and adding an internal magnet to hold up BB-8's head, he had himself an adorable droid. His BB-8 is controlled via Bluetooth with the Sphero mobile app.

Jealous of the mini BB-8? If you're willing to get your hands dirty, you can follow Poulsen's step-by-step guide and build your own.

Not good with tinkering? My guess: It won't be long before we see official BB-8 toys made by Sphero roll out (excuse the pun) when The Force Awakens hits theaters in December.

Update: Orbotix has confirmed it will sell iPhone-controlled BB-8 toys based on its existing Sphero toys later this year:

The iPhone-controlled BB-8 toys, about the size of a large Granny Smith apple, will be sold in Disney Stores and other specialty retailers this holiday season.
