Let's chalk this one up to too much hairspray inhalation.
Miss America pageant showrunners suffered a major face-palm moment during Sunday's show when a pop-up card spelled Jane Austen's name incorrectly. The card said "Jane Austin" when telling viewers about Miss New York Kira Kazantsev's -- who later won the crown -- favorite author, during her performance for the talent competition.

Twitter, appropriately, was appalled by the mistake, which ironically came from a pageant that provides collegiate scholarships to young women.
We all know what Jane herself would say about this: "It isn't what we say or think that defines us, but what we write on pop-ups during the Miss America pageant."
