Mixbook, a YouTube for Photobooks

Mixbook is a new service for creating digital photobooks, rating them, sharing them, commenting on them and even buying a printed version (yes, a "Web 2.0" site with a business model). The Flash-based creator provides a selection of templates, themes, frames and the rest.

It's broadly similar to Flip.com, albeit aimed at an older demographic that Flip's teen girl audience.

Most of the features require registration, but hit the "Try It" button on the homepage if you want to take the creator for a spin without the commitment. This is at the center of the Mixbook experience, and I think it's pretty impressive. The rest of the site? Not so much - maybe these guys prefer working in Flex (Flash). Certainly, I find this preferable to the numerous photobook creators that require downloaded software.
