The Rise of Mobile Photography [INFOGRAPHIC]

Many of the photo filters on Instagram evoke a sort of instant nostalgia. Pretty soon, though, mobile photos will be just about all we have to be nostalgic for.

You've probably noticed the trend in your own photo streams and news feeds. Mobile is rapidly edging out analog and even digital photography. In fact, the popularity of analog shooting has dropped a whopping 98% since 2000. And while it might have been all the rage a couple hundred years back, we're now snapping as many photos every two minutes as humanity as a whole did in the 1800s. Take that, Belle Époque!

Here's a shocker: 3,500 photos are uploaded to Facebook each second, adding to its behemoth collection of 140 billion photos. That's 14 times bigger than the next largest photo collection, Photobucket. Research consultants at HighTable have distilled the transition into this snazzy graphic; check it out to see just how snap-happy we've become.
