Why You Should Care About Mobile Security [INFOGRAPHIC]

As we keep buying more smartphones and tablets, it opens up the door that much further for cybercriminals to push through malware, phishing scams and other malicious traps.

Security-testing company Veracode has assembled an infographic filled with interesting stats about the rise of data breaches and what it could mean for businesses and consumers.

There's no denying that people love mobile devices. In fact, the smartphone market grew 42% from 2010 to 2011, and manufacturers have sold 40 million tablets over the past two years. Not to mention the 1 billion -- yes, billion -- mobile devices expected to be activated by the end of the year and a total of 40 billion apps downloaded onto them.

As these numbers rise, so does interest from cybercriminals looking to obtain sensitive data. About 59% of organizations have experienced an increase in malware due to insecure mobile devices, and many of which stem from apps.

For a full look at how cybercriminals are targeting mobile devices and what you can do to secure your mobile gadgets, check out the infographic below.
