YourSpins Deal - YourSpins, the UK-based music remixing community, will announce a deal tomorrow with the mobile operator Wolfpac. Wolfpac is, perhaps oddly, the biggest mobile operator in the Philippines - it's a subsidiary of Smart Communications. Unlike other companies, which are pursuing social networking and widgets, YourSpins thinks that partnerships with record companies and mobile operators are the way to go - look out for expansion into more territories soon. Rivals include SpliceMusic and Jamglue.
Mobloco Launches - Mobloco is another new mobile social network which announced its launch yesterday. The Atlanta-based service combines mobile event listings social interaction - you can find, tag and add events, as well as receiving event alerts on your phone. Being a social service, there are also profiles and the ability to send messages to approved friends. The focus is on NBA games and concerts and - coming from an African American company - they seem to be targeting that demographic with the marketing. That kind of focus could be useful in a sea of mobile startups: IMThere, Groovr and other mobile social networks. We didn't have time to compare and contrast these feature-wise, but if you're running a mobile site, it's probably worth playing around with Mobloco.
