Mogad's Bookmarking Plug-In Funded

Mogad, a bookmark-sharing community, has raised $500,000 in its first round of financing, led by Felicis Ventures.

The service works by letting you bookmark and track various websites. There's a long list of sites and feeds that you can choose from in your account settings (Mashable is one). You also have the option of adding your own lists to be followed. As you browse the Internet, you can also add sites to your list. These lists can be shared with the Mogad community, your friends, or no one at all. You can choose on an individual level which sites can be set to which privacy option. Sites you follow are also made available from the dropdown menu directly on the browser add-on.

It's rather difficult to find existing users on this site, so the ability to leverage the community for search, discovery or recommendation purposes is very limited. Otherwise, a system that's decent in theory has been poorly executed. Other takes on social bookmarking as of late include Siphs and Nsyght. Wis.dm is another bookmarking site that's recently been funded.
