When celebrating too early costs you the medal

Let this be a cautionary tale: Don't celebrate your accomplishments until you're sure you've accomplished them.

A split second before she crossed the finish line at the IAAF 2015 World Championships in Beijing, U.S. runner Molly Huddle was confident she'd take home the bronze in the women's 10,000 meter race. But as she threw her arms in the air in celebration, fellow U.S. runner Emily Infeld slipped past Huddle to secure her spot as the third place finisher.

That's a rough way to lose.

Huddle came in fourth behind Kenya's Vivian Cheruiyot, Ethiopia's Gelete Burka and Infeld. See the end of the race here:

Huddle is hardly the first to celebrate a win just a moment too early-- in fact, the topic of premature celebration has its own subreddit. Bookmark this page, athletes.
