After more than a decade of media silence, Monica Lewinsky has opened up about her affair with former U.S. president Bill Clinton.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, she said she "deeply regrets" what happened between her and the former president.
Lewinsky, now 40, has said very little about the affair since it emerged in 1998, eventually leading to Clinton's impeachment. Now, she decided it's time to stop "tiptoeing" around her past.
According to Lewinsky, the affair was a relationship between two consenting adults. "Sure, my boss took advantage of me, but (...) it was a consensual relationship. Any 'abuse' came in the aftermath, when I was made a scapegoat in order to protect his powerful position," said Lewinsky.
In the interview, Lewinsky claims she turned down offers that would have earned her more than $10 million, and details how her history has prevented her from getting a job.
She also requests one correction in Beyoncé's song "Partition," specifically the verse "He Monica Lewinsky'd all on my gown."
"I think you meant ‘Bill Clinton’d all on my gown,’ not ‘Monica Lewinsky’d.’”
