Want to be notified when your website goes down? Now you can do so from within Twitter, using MoniTwitter. MoniTwitter, from the makers of Community Walk and Wedding Mapper, monitors website uptime and notifies you via Twitter when your site goes down.

It's a neat idea, but it's also a much less feature rich service than Pingdom, which offers more advanced site monitoring and notifications via email and SMS. It's not a free service like MoniTwitter, however - it's $9.95/month. So depending on what you're looking for, and whether"free" and "integrated with Twitter" are good selling points for you, MoniTwitter could be the tool for the job.

PS. If you're making anything based on or related to a possibly trademarked name, best to avoid using that name in your URL. Twitter is unlikely to crack down on this, but its a good rule to live by.
