When the new lunar year turns next week, it'll be the Year of the Monkey. Naturally, the mythical Monkey King who's waited 12 years for this, has been traipsing all over China in preparation for his year.

The mythical figure, also known as Sun Wukong, is one of the main characters from Chinese classical epic "Journey to the West". He is also worshipped in Taoism, and has temples dedicated to him across Asia, in countries such as China, Hong Kong and Singapore.

He's been showing off his water skills.

He's not afraid of heights -- the Monkey King takes on China's famous transparent bridge at Shiniuzhai.
