The next entry to the popular Mortal Kombat fighting franchise will be coming to next-generation consoles in 2015.

NetherRealm Studios Creative Director Ed Boon announced Mortal Kombat X on Monday via Twitter.

The name of the game is "Mortal Kombat X"— Ed Boon (@noobde) June 2, 2014

NetherRealm took over the franchise with the last Mortal Kombat, giving it a facelift and retelling the stories from the first Mortal Kombat games of the early 1990s. The studio is also known for its DC Comics fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us.

The trailer above, which has a brutal fight between series favorites Sub Zero and Scorpion, features a new song by rapper Wiz Khalifa called "Can't Be Stopped."

While Boon and the trailer offered no other details about Mortal Kombat X, we know the game will be shown off at E3 in Los Angeles next week. Stay tuned.
