Drivers are desperate to get out of rush-hour traffic any way they can. This desire occasionally manifests itself in the form of, let's call it, a creative bending of the carpool lane laws.

One carpool lane driver in Washington state was pulled over when an officer noticed a familiar face in the passenger side of his car -- none other than "The Most Interesting Man in the World" from the Dos Equis beer commercials. Only, you know, cardboard.

According to the police, the man claimed that the cutout was his "best friend." Unfortunately, this beautiful friendship didn't get him out of a $124 ticket.

I don't always violate the HOV lane law...but when I do, I get a $124 ticket! We'll give him an A for creativity! pic.twitter.com/hNbQDuBWfc— Trooper Guy Gill (@wspd1pio) March 24, 2015

In the tweet, posted by the Washington State Patrol, the driver appears to be in good spirits about the situation. As for the Most Interesting Man in the World, he gave the officer a ticket.
