As the report states, lipstick is more than just a beauty product. Celebrities from Marilyn Monroe to Taylor Swift have had signature shades. In 2012, lip products generated $204.4 million in retail sales, according to statista.com.

The results of the study show that Londoners purchase caramel nude shades, New Yorkers love bright red, people in Sydney love coffee nude, those in Miami love pale rose pink and Parisians prefer dusky rose.
