LONDON -- The school yard in a few year's time is going to sound a lot like a mash-up of Game of Thrones, Orange is the New Black and Breaking Bad.

Parents in Britain, inspired by TV shows, are naming their newborns after their favourite characters, according to new research by parenting site Babycentre.

Piper has increased 267% on last year, due to the popularity of Netflix's series Orange is the New Black, while Emilia Clarke, the actress who plays Daenerys Targaryen in the HBO series Game of Thrones, has propelled the name Emilia onto the top 100 list as a new entry at number 53.

The GoT-inspired names don't stop there. In 2014, Daenerys has been registered as a girls' name and Tyrion as a boys'. A spokeswoman for Babycentre told Mashable there aren't a huge number of children with these names being registered, but it is the first time they've appeared.

Breaking Bad, which has been popular among new parents in previous years, continued as a parent favourite, with the number of children named after lead characters Skyler, Jesse and Walter all up this year.

Overall, the most popular boy's name in Britain in 2014 is Muhammad, up 27 places from 2013's ranking of names, while Sophia moves up two places from last year to take the top spot on the girl's names' list.
