MotionBox has been yet Another embedded video site struggling to catch up with YouTube for some time now. Today they announced a new batch of premium features in an effort to set themselves apart from the rest of the catch-up-to-YouTube herd, as well as going a route different from the rest of the ad-supported embedded video sites.
There have been some partnerships in MotionBox's past that have been interesting, but for some time, they've seemed to gear themselves towards the family videographer, quoting the benefits of using an online service to store and edit your raw footage.
They've also introduced a few new merchandising gimmicks that are interesting add-ons. You can create a "Motionbook," which is really just a little flip book of your short video. They've also introduced the ability to download your videos to your iPod or AppleTV, too.
Motionbox isn't for everyone, though. Anyone that's professional or serious about video can't use the current iteration of online tools for their video editing solution; that's not to say that it won't be there soon, but for current broadcast quality, you can't beat a Video Toaster, Tri-caster or a Speededit box.
