Not content with just a regular picnic outing -- these rather ingenious blokes from Perth in Australia have converted picnic tables into motorised vehicles, driving down a busy highway on a Sunday afternoon.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_GB/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));Two motorised picnic tables were spotted cruising along West Coast Hwy in Scarborough on Sunday afternoon. The actual identities of the builders and drivers of these excellent contraptions are not yet known, but some Facebook users think they'll probably be getting a visit from the authorities -- as surprise, surprise -- the picnic tables don't appear to be registered.

They don't happen to be related to the guy who made the motorised La-Z-Boy chair, do they?

UPDATE: Tuesday, Nov. 17, 7:20 p.m. AEDT: Western Australia Police are attempting to identify those involved in the incident. "Police are concerned for the safety of those riding on the tables with no protective clothing, especially when on roads alongside motor vehicles," authorities wrote on Facebook. "The people using these vehicles could face a number of charges including driving an unlicensed vehicle, driving an unroadworthy vehicle and drink driving."
