Mountain lion discovers power pole is amazing for people-watching

There are lots of great places to people watch: the subway, theme parks, malls. And a Southern California mountain lion has found another fun vantage point: power poles.

The mountain lion was photographed Tuesday atop a utility pole in Lucerne Valley, California. It apparently climbed up the pole for refuge after being startled by a school bus full of children.

After the bus drove away, however, the cat seemed to like the view from its new hangout spot. So it stayed there all afternoon.

It finally vacated its perch Wednesday morning.

Another mountain lion sighting was reported in Hesperia, which is about 22 miles away from Lucerne Valley. It is unclear whether the cougar spotted in Hesperia is the same as the one photographed.
